Then he messaged me again the day we filed my son’s federal lawsuit, same thing, he didn’t make it about me, but about my son and the other kids we wanted to end seclusion for. Steve got it.

I loved that he said he supported my son and acknowledged that the protests were to observe my son’s pain and suffering. Most others were acting like it was about me, warrior mom, blah blah. He saw what I was doing was a sort of daily vigil in observance of my son’s suffering and it wasn’t about me

Steve was so kind. When my son’s story dropped when I blew the whistle on our school district about his restraints & seclusions, many treated me like I’d lost it for daily protests outside our school district offices. He wrote me, said he’d heard me on NPR and wanted me to know he supported my son.
