WHY aren't politicians telling this to the public? Instead they think they can "get votes" by bashing immigrants.

PS It isn't even about "immigrants" it's about race.

Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

More amazing news!

In a historic move, New Mexico just became the first state in America to guarantee free, universal child care for all residents. ๐Ÿฉต

Families win, kids thrive, and the economy grows.

Now letโ€™s get the entire U.S. to follow suit.

I saw this earlier this week but needed time to have a public conversation about it.

Goddard has always been one of my favorite NASA centers. The work they do is so cool and the folks there are incredible.

This truly gutted me. ๐Ÿ˜ข

Nothing to see here, literally! Just 6ft me standing, you read that right, standing upright in front of a truck.

Dems,
You donโ€™t have to throw trans people under the bus to win elections. Voters donโ€™t hate trans people as much as Republicans have convinced you they do. They just donโ€™t. So stop falling for this false dichotomy of either supporting trans ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€โšง๏ธ rights & dignity or winning elections.
You can do both.

"Centrists" need to call Mamdani a "radical leftist" so they can say Trump/Farage fascism is just the opposing side of an equally matched "both sides" conflict

But Mamdani is just a middle of the road, European social democrat

And "centrists" - ie centre-right and right - are simply pro-fascism.

Not only is Tom Hanks protecting his own health, by masking up heโ€™s protecting everyone else on public transit.

Many people taking the subway donโ€™t have paid time off.

They donโ€™t have the good healthcare someone like Hanks can afford.

Masking is community care.

Billionaires spent millions trying to defeat Mamdani

They threw their support behind a man they knew was guilty of sexual assault, because predators protect their own

They lost

It wonโ€™t stop them from trying again.

No one should be allowed to buy an election & predators must be held accountable

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist

The news about Teen Vogue is terrible, the latest in the long list of corporate-owned media layoffs, closures, and shifting tone and coverage.
There are so many great independent outlets, a list too long but this is a fantastic starter pack. PLEASE pick a few & support them if you're able.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

The fascinating story behind the 2025 NYC marathon medal This year's medal for the TCS New York City marathon is ribbed to reflect the elevation map of the course.

Not fascinating, but this is cool:

"At first glance, the surface of the new medal appears to be brushed with an array of diagonal stripes. But flip it on its side, and you will notice that the stripes are ribbed, and they reflect the actual elevation of the five-borough course."

Annie Rodenfels and Weini Kelati are setting the pace in the second mile of the Dash to the Finish Line 5K, but now Elle St. Pierre has covered the move. Alicia Monson surprisingly dropped off early. It's tough having a track-race-sized field in a road race.

Your worth is not tied to your health.

Itโ€™s not tied to your productivity.

Capitalism and ableism teach us that our value is tied up in how much we โ€œproduceโ€ for others.

Itโ€™s not.

You have value just as you are. We all do.

Top researchers consider leaving U.S. amid funding cuts: 'The science world is ending'

A poll from the journal Nature found that 75% of researchers in the U.S. are considering leaving the country. That includes a man whoโ€™s been dubbed the "Mozart of Math." (This PBS story on the scientific brain drain is heartbreaking & ominous for medicine, imo.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLvO...
