Why was Epstein's hunting grounds Eastern Europe and the US? Both places have a struggling working class easy to victimize. If we institute UBI, accessible housing, healthcare for all, wealthy abusers will no longer have a class to exploit sexually and thru labor

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didnβt drop the rod. WTF

How steep is Trumpβs democratic backsliding?
The erosion of established norms has been dramatic but institutions are holding up
John Burn-Murdoch: The speed, scale, flagrance and persistence of the Trump administrationβs deviations from established legal and constitutional norms during his second term have been so dramatic that it bears stepping back and taking stock.

My idea of progressivism is to work to make some actual progress. Not to sit on your hands and watch the country drift backwards in the hope that it will finally trigger a revolution or whatever.

I attended in 1980, and protested in 2004, when the indifference to Kerrey's crimes was so notable. Many institutions have a veneer of progressivism belied by their core functioning.

New School University had de facto admitted war criminal Bob Kerrey as its president for ten years at the start of this century. Not sure the 'one of the most progressive' label is accurate.
It's long been a Jingo Lite institution.

UBI isnt "the answer to AGI", it should have been in place decades ago as wages and productivity decoupled. Most UBIs are quite modest. What it does is provide a foundation that can be leveraged into anything. You can add work (in all its forms, not just labour), take up retraining or further learning, care work...above it can be added more protections even guaranteed incomes for pwd.
We're not locked in to one thing only. UBI is a trust and bedrock above which we individually and together we decide the rest.
Work has become less and less the single breadwinner working 40 years, 40 hours per week. It is increasingly complex and will continue to be so with more need for upskilling, smaller contracts and projects...
Putting a solid foundation down takes all this from precarity to possibility.

There it is: one of the first times anyone in the Trump admin has admitted that protestors & bystanders are legally permitted to protest & document DHS activity.... Just two days ago, this same crowd spent hours claiming DHS agents have been "under attack" in MSP & beyond...
