Well... with Bioshock Infinite finished for the first playthrough, let's move on to a new game. A good friend of mine wanted me to try out a game called System Shock, so we'll be seeing what goes on here and how I mess with the folks within.

Really now? I’d kind of written them off as just another fast food restaurant trying to branch out to something it didn’t seem they should really do. Might have to try them at some point then.

Hmmmm. We’ll need to check through grandmas vinyls and see if she has that one. And I guarantee you she would have been very happy to give it to you, knowing you’d appreciate it.

Changing things up this time and going for some Vermintide 2. Lots of violence and trying to save a realm, while not dieing. And with friends. Should be fun!

On that note, it’s entirely possible to have a negative experience because of perceived situations that weren’t there, based on how the brain is processing information at the time. Does that still account for autistics choosing to burn a bridge they see as problematic? And is that right to do?

That, unfortunately, leaves a lot up to “whimsy”. A bad day could be had that causes everything to spiral because of a misunderstanding of clear statements. Bad head days do happen a lot more frequently for neurodivergent people, and interpretations of a conversation can be drastically different.

So, by this line of thinking, sometimes there is absolutely no recovering a relationship if said Autistic deems it unredeemable, or even a neurotypical? Can’t that come across as petty and spiteful, depending on the severity of the situation?

Doesn’t that bring the point back around to what you had said before though? About accidental spitefulness in regard to social rules. Rejection based off of perceived situations or actions seems to me to be more of a learned response. Unless you meant there is another way the rejection happens.

All excellent points. Would you say therapy, as difficult as it is to get for autistic people, especially if they are undiagnosed, has any possibility in helping with those interactions? Or is that kind of clash a “hint” that it’s just doomed from the start at that point?

Isn’t that just another form of masking though? Trying to fit in with the people around themselves so as to feel less like the outcast, less like something is inherently wrong with them based on the only thing they knew growing up? Though, I guess that can be vastly different from person to person.
