I started this iteration of Pizza Time in early 2021 (the less said about prior iterations the better), as something to focus on during Covid-19 lockdowns. Eventually, I started framing this comic as practice, motivation to hone my skills and work towards the “next” comic- something that would be more polished, better plotted, less obsessed with the grim state of the world. There were more than a few times where I wanted to delete it all and call the last few years of work a wash- seeing the comic for all its flaws, all the weird bumps that I wanted to iron out in time for the “next” comic. Thankfully I never acted on those 3AM impulses. If you were along for any part of the ride- as a reader, or as one of the many great webcomic artists I've encountered along the way offering feedback and motivation, or even as someone sending anonymous hate mail- thank you! Now in late 2025, I'm finishing up what I call “Volume 1.” Could I keep going, and make volume 2 that “next” comic I was working toward? Probably; for all of Pizza Time's weird boils and pustules, I've come to like making it as more than just practice. I could see myself telling stories in this world until I'm old and frail, like Uncle Bones. Or perhaps this “Volume 1” will be known as just “The Volume” one day. It's been a long journey, and as happy as I am that I took it, I'm also happy to be at the end of it- for now! -Until Next Time, Huge Rat"
