This is pretty common across several books Iโ€™ve been reading/re-reading:
Nathacha Appanah, The Last Brother
Hanna Krall, Chasing the King of Hearts
Anita Lobel, No Pretty Pictures
Elie Wiesel, Night
Hanna Krall, Shielding the Flame
The Stroop Report

Who Goes Nazi?, by Dorothy Thompson

Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.

The reason a hillbilly scholarship kid like me got a great public education at William & Mary was because they invested in teachers, not bullshit computer magic. I guess that has changed.

If you've done in-person research at any of the following presidential libraries in the last 8 months, can you please follow me/contact meโ€”soonโ€”for a story I'm working on (can be off the record)?

Hoover
FDR
Truman
Eisenhower
JFK
LBJ
Ford
Carter

And either way, can you please share this request? ๐Ÿ™

Fit for Purpose? How Todayโ€™s Commercial Digital Platforms Subvert Key Goals of Public Education Digital educational platforms have become ubiquitous in American classrooms, with tools like Google Workspace for Education, Kahoot!, Zearn, Khan Academy, and many others now structuring curriculum, i...

Say it often, say it loud:

"Overall, research has not supported the common-sense presumption that digital approaches to schooling are better than non-digital alternatives. At the broadest level, widespread computer use in education has been found to be associated with lower student achievement."

Years ago I scrapped more structured sessions, moved lectures to recordings available online, and built class time not around "debate" but at least offering students provocative things to read, putting some context around the provocation, and then encouraging them to express their own ideas in class
