Tommy Murphy was a lifelong Sixers fan, fighting cancer in 1991. Weeks before he died, Charles Barkley gave him an unexpected visit. The items Barkley signed and gave to his fan are everyday reminders to his family of the former Sixers star's unexpected visit.

In 1991, Ginny Burbage, a courier at FedEx, saw a package with Charles Barkley's address on it.

Her brother, Tommy Murphy, had terminal cancer. He was a big Sixers fan.

So, she sent him a letter.

Days later, Barkley came to their house. He stayed for two hours:

DiLeo learns ‘every day is something new’ as Sixers’ summer league head coach, an ethos that lines up with his basketball life DiLeo, the son of former Sixers executive and coach Tony DiLeo, has worked his way up from player-development intern to leading the Summer Sixers in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.

T.J. DiLeo used to draw up plays as a 5-year-old, then tell dad Tony to use them as an assistant coach with the Sixers.

After growing up around this organization, T.J. is now the summer league head coach.

VJ Edgecombe ‘itching’ to return to Sixers summer league, but has a confidant in the rehabbing Jared McCain Edgecombe has missed the Sixers' past three summer league games with a thumb injury, but has been moving through the Las Vegas trip alongside the rehabbing McCain.

VJ Edgecombe said his sprained thumb is “getting better,” but that he won’t play again until it’s 100 percent.

“I'm itching to get on the court after my first game. Probably just because we lost, too. I'm 0-1 in games I've played."
