I'm more of a casual, but watching some of the more highly recommended editions been on my todo list. Still, couldn't resist the exhibit when I had a chance and got a tall companion to get me this shot (the ones I took myself have the stanchions in the picture).

I know the poses differ photo to photo because mannequins shift in time and gravity or are moved to keep them out of reach, but I like to think the staff sometimes play with them or maybe they come to life at night.

There's an annotated note on top that says "Makoto just hanging out in the corner of giant pictures of her boyfriend."

Makoto must enjoy being surrounded by all these wonderful images of Ren... or does she feel a little embarrassed? Perhaps both?

Did the team coordinate with the taxi driver? With Sumi? Or did stuff just happen? The PTs felt like a fake out that only makes sense if you played the original.

I'm glad I can still get the original ending in P5R but wish there was some way of getting it without leaving things incomplete.

I feel this so much. The P5R ending felt haphazard in character use with little coordination getting Ren to the train and Sumi just being there.

Also, I'm disappointed that Ann's lines rousing the team were given to Sumi when the team starts their campaign to free Ren. Don't take from Ann!

Chibi Persona 5 characters from the Persona 5 Royal x ANIPLUS Collaboration Cafe. Everyone is wearing their winter casual. The first row is Ren carrying a steaming coffee can or thermos, Morgana holding up a mini snow cat, Ryuji holding a snow ball in each hand with snow on his hair, Ann holding one hand out with a tiny clump of snow near it, and Yusuke drawing on a sketchpad, also with snow in his hair. The second row starts with Makoto doing her classic hair flip with her breath showing in the cold, Futaba squatting and blowing on her hands for warmth, Haru with a snow shovel, Akechi holding a coffee can in each hand but a different type than Ren's, and Sumi holding an umbrella with snow on it.

Makoto's classic hair flip in chibi is so cute. Also her and Ren's similar expressions.

Futaba warming her hands is cute too. So is Haru burying the bodies.

Also, the snow in Ryuji & Yusuke's hair suggest a bigger snowball fight than just Ryuji! Was it Ann? Futaba? Is that why her hands are cold?

Maybe if P4R does really really well they'll consider a spinoff for that game... or some day for P6.

A big crossover like the PQ series is a long-shot wish so I can still have my P5 characters. Maybe they'd call it the PS series.

I so wish they would use this system to make another game. They fit it to P3/P4/P5 so well that it still feels like the same universe but different style.

It was my long shot wish for them to re-make P3's The Answer this way.

The anime was such a trip. I love how the V-day OVA parodies the special ending for the episode where Ren appears to have been killed.

Amamiya Ren was announced with the anime and P5D, so well before Strikers... so they could have used it internally, though I think just "protagonist" was more likely.

Some fanworks use Akira out of preference or age. I retroactively changed mine when it was announced but I like them both. 2/2

I don't think it appears as the default in either, but like with P3 and P4, since there wasn't a default, people first went with the manga name (Kurusu Akira) but then many switched over when a name was picked for the anime (Amamiya Ren) with clear intent to use in spinoffs and collabs. ...1/n

Yeah it's a wish and not a likely. At least they have experience making the jump, but ultimately probably not beneficial enough to be worth the cost. Kinda feel it's now or never though.

Since the site says 'Next Update' might also be just a crumb as they milk the whole year.

I was expecting the highlight to be a new P4R trailer and possibly a date/quarter. Since P5X+P3R is ongoing, hadn't really thought about it, but you're right, good time for an Aigis announcement. Was surprised little room P3R got on the splash image tho.

Specific likely-predictions and long-shot-wishes for the Jan 8 anniversary site update?

Old digital fan art of Joker re-creating the Charlie Conspiracy meme. It's a mostly line-art image with red spot-color. The papers on the wall include the number 8, an infinity sign, a scarf, a pair of gloves noted to be red, a love lock with the word 'eternal' circled, the double happiness character, and a box of chocolates with an R on the with "P5R??" written on it. Across several it just says "SHUMAKO." Written in top is "Makoto is the 8th date in the OVA and 8 is auspicious and is infinity on its side and with the R on her chocolates means ETERNAL SHUMAKO canon in P5R!!!". Underneath is a "-me, most definitely not overthinking things for my ship."

Looking forward to it! I really enjoy all of these little happy accidents (or "on-purposes") that we get to enjoy in this ship. There's so much to dig into in this game!

Going a bit over the top at times is fun silliness too...

It felt like they were mostly avoiding shipping at first, like Ren rarely stands next to a girl even (whereas, often real close/next to in P5)... but then like halfway through they started feeding me *real* good.

Not that I couldn't find food in the first half... 🥰

I worked it into a fic ❤️, but removing shipper goggles, my guess is they wanted to color-code her dark blue and then picked flowers that go on top of water. Not sure the designer knows his name beyond Joker/protagonist.

So, she tends towards white, the contrast is black to avoid other colors, and then if there is another spot color, often red for Shujin or P5, but blue sometimes.

Meanwhile, Ren going with blacks/grays then contrast with white and red highlights too. I do enjoy his blue umbrella and scarf though.

For P5D, everyone got more red, so Haru, Ryuji, Futaba, and Morgana have red bandanas too.

...but then you have things like their Strikers swimsuits and Makoto's lotus yukata in that game...

I'm sure fans of other pairings can find similar patterns for their ships though. 2/3

I think part of it is that Makoto tends towards white (her PT gloves) in the color-coded friend group with the dark blue showing up more rarely, instead blue usually going to Yusuke. To not step on anyone's colors, that leaves black which is Ren. 1/n

I'm not quite through Tomoko's synergy yet but the New Years event has helped me interpret what's going on. #P5X
