anyone out there with me/cfs have flareup shortening/lessening protocol? Yeah, it’s just way better to have an individual you can actually contact and have a human conversation with. An individual that can look at your 9lb 16yo cat and say “ I’ll only charge pet rent for the big orange one” even though pet rent is an absurd concept, it’s still way better!

Also, most of us don’t have big yards so you at least need a very secure yard they can access so they don’t escape into the street in addition to walks, otherwise you have to walk CONSTANTLY. I know people who get up at like 4 AM to walk huskies because it’s still cool out and the walk is long.

Also, we don’t want to report individuals to the state/city because what if this place gets bought up by a big company that’s even worse? At least right now we have a human we can contact and reason with!

It’s also tough because even if the state has good tenant laws, good luck getting landlords to actually obey them, because they know working class people don’t have the time and money to sue them.

He will do that. Whenever we do improvements ourselves or call someone in sometimes he needs photos or that person’s account but once he gets that he does take it off our rent at least.

That’s why la shelters are full of them & probably how these people got one. You basically have to have an air conditioner running 24/7 in summer & even daytime in winter. Most of our apartments don’t have central air, so it’s extra expensive. Also, you have to learn to shave them or pay that too

Our upstairs neighbor is dealing with water damage that’s affecting us both themselves, after which we gotta repaint ourselves. But our landlord got the wrong paint and he’s gonna drag his ass getting the right paint bc his guys are understandably scared to go to home improvement stores rn

Even apartments are a nightmare because landlords don’t do shit and when they do, they don’t hire professionals, which is fine for some jobs, but not like, foundational? This apt has horrible wiring & plumbing. It smells like burning in the fireplace & flume is closed. Insects have so much access.

You also have to get it directly from the owner like they did because even private equity firms will do the absolute minimum or less to bring a hoarder house up to code and still put it on the market at 1 million and that’s if the house is one story & not in or near an expensive neighborhood.

It’s pretty much the only way to own a house in LA if you’re not inheriting one as an only child or disgustingly rich. It can’t even just be haunted, no matter how crappy it is it has to be fully condemned.
