I only remember the actual bay was gorgeous, not where it was 😭. Been to the city in Maui too though also beautiful! Hoping it stays that way and developers just stop and land is returned. (And in fact, across the whole country, private equity firms just stop.)

A variation on or similar name to something really common is honestly the worst.

I’m unsure because I was a kid and we went to multiple islands different times (before people who live there told us mainlanders not to come, or before that was common knowledge) but Kauai was one of them for sure.

My parents last names are so Americanized I’ve considered going down various lines and finding a name I like. But I like taking my partner’s name bc 1 of his ancestors was a prominent eugenicist & I’m disabled. If it’s gonna be Anglicized I’mma picture Alexander Graham Bell roll in his grave

It’s a nice word though. I think there’s a reason people choosing their own names end up with commonalities. Sometimes parents don’t think about what it would be like to be called what they chose but if you’re naming yourself, that’s what you think about.

My parents gave me two middle names to avoid the last name fuck up too, it’s an issue (mother kept her last name.) I know a lot of Arabic speaking cultures have the same problem with American birth certificates

I always try to double check the spelling from the sender email or signature. Everyone gets it wrong once in a while, but like most people don’t even care and that’s really annoying.

At a certain point in his life, my dad had only friends named Steve I stg. I apologize if I have ever done this.

I mean, I don’t actually care about coffee shops, but I swear to God someone at the DMV messed up and I’ve been paying for it ever since. You get so used to spelling it out for people only for them to not get paid enough to listen.

How are those of us with chronic illness answering normal ass questions like “how are you?” Or “Are you OK?” I’m leaning towards hissing but I CAN poop at anytime so, open to suggestions.

And I’m not trivializing if anything I’m saying trauma does as much damage as anyone who caused it.
