Although Nike is using some recycled plastic (incl. recycled polyester) to make its tennis shirts, which does result in some reduction in CO2 and short-term waste, it couldn't provide evidence that the shirts do no harm to the environment throughout their lifespan. 2/5

This sends a clear signal: if the world's largest chemicals group is phasing out PFAS, it really means that these chemicals aren't good for business.

COP30 also saw the very first mobilisation to tackle climate disinformation, with the landmark Declaration on Information Integrity being sealed...

What makes this #COP different is that it happened in the wake of a landmark advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice – the world’s highest Court.

The opinion – under intl law, countries MUST act now to avoid climate catastrophe – is true regardless of the outcome text. 4/6

The final outcome also did not include any reference or process to tackling deforestation.

But COP30 did see more than 50 countries, including 34 tropical forest countries, endorse the Tropical Forests Forever Facility, starting with USD 5.5 billion. 3/6

But 80 countries called for a roadmap to transition away from fossil fuels, a (now voluntary) initiative that will be led by the COP30 presidency. 2/6
