Finally getting back into a #languagelearning frame of mind now that the class I'm teaching is finishing up!

First step - revisit my daily routine. It's at this point I usually spend more time planning my routine than doing the work of learning! 🤭

I was just chatting with a friend who mentioned the Portuguese Lab podcast. I'm not familiar with it, but my friend found it engaging and helpful.

it's funny how it corrects me gently when I get it wrong but is enthusiastically positive when I get it right...

I opted to finish Cell Phone first. Those phones sure get up to a lot of shenanigans. Now, on to Peach Colony!

I can't decide so I think I'll just alternate. :) Honestly, whoever writes these graded readers for language learners deserves a medal. What they can do with 300ish characters is pretty amazing #languagelearning

Story 1: "Cell Phone" - about the machinations of a cell phone who'd like to spend more time hanging out with his teen friend.

Story 2: "The Peach Colony" - about a utopia lost and found (based on Peach Blossom Spring by Tao Yuanming)

Having finished reading "12 Minutes" (an existentially gripping story) and I'm A Cat (FanFan's Adventures - who knew following the day-to-day of a kitten could be so enthralling!), I find myself having to decide between two wildly different stories:

Honestly, our system is not set up to support learners. It's set up to provide accountability to society. :) (these are my thoughts on my more bah humbug days...)

The last few years, I've been having similar thoughts about a related topic: the impossible hurdles some face if they do decide they are in a place where they can attempt a more formal edu route later in life.

apparently, I'm 'quirky'* because:

Both times I've started the story, I paired Melusine w/ Child of Desert. I enjoy stories in which characters are "out of their element." As I made my selections, I found myself wondering if it would impact my skill levels, etc. Your story makes me think on multiple levels. Thank you!
