Congratulations to #SFUSPP alumnus Sharon Sa, who has received the 2025 Student Award from the Disaster Recovery Institute of Canada. Sharon was recognized for her MA thesis, which addressed wildfire smoke adaptation for vulnerable low-income populations in Metro Vancouver.

The Los Angeles wildfires are a warning to Canada that it needs to properly fund emergency response.
Low-wage labourers, migrants and Indigenous Peoples bear the brunt of climate disasters. The chronic underfunding of response needs to end.
