The ripple effects of this are staggering. And it seems only few people (us in science) realize it or even care.

The "campus free speech types are hypocrites" line of commentary is very well-worn, so I won't belabor the point much further. But it feels worth noting that *unions* are the organizations actually fighting for freedom of speech on many college campuses...

It’s not a great deal if you don’t need it. And especially this year, others really need support. So for all of us who have enough, let’s refuse to get sucked into the holiday shopping frenzy and share instead of shop. We don’t need more stuff, we need communities where all our neighbors are safe.

Remember - if you're financially in a position to do so, skip the #BlackFriday deals online from big companies and shop instead from small and local businesses.
The big guns don't need your money, but for small traders it can be what keeps them going into 2026, so support your community instead.

We knew this regulation was going into effect, but we didn't yet know whether and how NIH might seek to use it.

Yesterday, we found out. NIH will indeed add specific language to new grant terms and, in doing so, it'll preserve the option to use this new power.

Our Time A campaign for an affordable NYC

Very exciting to see activists launching a new nonprofit today to keep building on the community of volunteers that came together to get Mamdani elected.

Our Time is a 501(c)(4) and plans to start events in December.

Being brown in the US, I'm just grateful I got to be a part of, and witness Zohran peaking at such an important point on the NYC,US & global scale. I was so close to being so disillusioned about politics and our power in it, now I understand what community-building can actually look like. #mamdani
