Advancing a rights-based mental health system: the case for a Human Rights Act for Western Australia Western Australia (WA) remains without a stand-alone human rights legislation, such as a Human Rights Act (HRA). This vacuum impacts the human rights of Western Australians in a broad range of syst...

Our co-authored Australian Journal of Human Rights article on the value of a Human Rights Act to Western Australia was published.

We highlight how a legislated and implemented HRA can achieve better outcomes for all.

It is unbelievable that corporate Democrats can say this.

Carvilles strategy is to play dead for midterms that won't be free.

Can you imagine how ridiculous people who said this of Hitler in 1933 as he corrupted the legal system, undertook political progress and dismantled democratic institutions?

It's unclear if they have the mettle for this, but the Democrats should be ousting Schumer immediately if they care about a Constitutional republic. He's completely unfit for this moment.

I would contrast McCullum with Geelong Coach Chris Scott.

While McCullum has fairly predictable/religiously consistent approach, Scott will always keep the other coach guessing and try to exploit weaknesses, giving them new looks, slowly deconstructing them.

Our closest security partner, flagrantly violating the "rules based order". AUKUS will go down as one of the worst, and most slow moving, policy disasters in Australian history.

I'd be keen to chat about this in the context of mental health β€” addressing the social determinants of mental health/suicide through reduced inequality/increased revenue base for core needs (housing, safety etc) and mental health supports.

The release of the mid-year fiscal and economic outlook (MYEFO) has revealed the cost of changes to superannuation tax concessions and the PRRT’s ongoing failure to deliver fair returns to Australians.

@mattgrudnoff.bsky.social, am reading the great paper on how we could raise more than $70B through relatively simple wealth taxes. Does this exclude taxing the resource (mining/gas) sector, meaning more could be raised?

Sydney Sweeney makes concession on β€˜great genes’ ad controversy The actress first broke her silence three months after the controversial advertisements went live, and it was not well received.

Leaving aside that its hard to believe her that "it was just about the jeans", her view that being silent was the justified result to "negative press" fails to grapple w the fact that she should have spoken up to clarify for the PoC communities impacted.

Unfortunate that Susan Ley's efforts to undertake collaborative leadership within her party are panned as weak leadership.

Collaborative leadership/governance of an org can work, but if bad actors prioritise their self-interest it crumbles.

Prompts calls for Dutton-style leadership.

We're conditioned to prioritise politeness over marginalised perspectives.

Today's Senate event, where Senators Payman, Faruqi, & Thorpe spoke up against workplace racism & misogyny, shows how wrong that instinct.

The Senate's silence was horrifying.
