Thanks to renewed support from the VUB Research Council, our team will embark on five more years of interdisciplinary collaboration, combining osteological analysis, isotopic research, and historical investigation to uncover new insights into the lives and landscapes of medieval city dwellers!

We’re excited to kick off Make-Up of the Cities — the next phase in our interdisciplinary exploration of Flanders’ medieval urban past! Building on the Make-Up of the City project, which focused on Ypres, this project expands our scope to 5 cities: Ypres, Bruges, Ghent, Nieuwpoort & Poperinge 🏰
