Just listened to this album for the first time and yeah it’s a masterpiece. Combines indie rock with old-school hip hop in a way everyone can get down to and really shows how samples can lead entire songs. This is the definitive alternative dance album, a total blast to listen to

And this is coming from a professional cartoon maker! I love this medium but I often find its finished products to be a far cry from any of my favorite books.

I mean this in the most earnest way possible. If your points of reference for storytelling all come from cartoons I BEG you to read more books. There’s so much more variety out there, so much that hasn’t been distilled through 80 different hands & a single corporation’s S+P department.

Coming from someone who has known a few equally horrible and tragic people (haven’t we all?).

Once again not a response to anything, just thinkin.

Then, sometimes, sure, it’s used as an awkward twist or an even more awkward retcon which is almost always annoying but never wave away a good tragic backstory as “lazy writing”. Characters can be Tragic and Horrible at the same time and those are usually the most interesting in my opinion.

Its interesting to see some ppl rail against tragic villains as if their backstories are always supposed to be a tool to “excuse” their current villainous actions. It’s context. Sometimes entertaining context that Makes Ya Think.

I’m seeing the reunited Cap’n Jazz play their final NYC show at the Warsaw in Brooklyn tonight. Stoked to see these kids play their weirdo punk songs 30 years later as adults. Ready for the antics to ensue.
