I think having that thought (within reason) should be the point you intervene or speak up, not after that thought lingers for a while.

I do think there needs to be *some* element of player agency after time is called in changing the outcome that's better than comparing LP.

I totally get the challenge for Yugioh of long turns making extra definied overtime really weird. I'd think something like:
- 45 min rounds
- Time is called, finish current turn and next turn
- Hard cap of 15 minutes
- Overall stricter enforcement of slow play to make it work
Doing a double loss for matches that go to time is good policy, but immediately ending a match with no additional player agency after the moment time gets called is unbelievably cringe. Seems miserable for players and for viewers.
