i kinda think that’s why so many people my age imprinted SO hard on it - games were less ‘user friendly’, big world, lots of eras to explore, on a journey with friends (in the earthbound vein). so much aimless wandering, hoping you’d get a hint or just stumble across the next thing. good stuff 🥲

There is always lots of talk about how games don't come with manuals anymore. Well what Fangamer did with UFO 50 is pretty incredible. A full strategy guide, lots of hand-drawn maps and notes, even a fake newsletter. All played as if this stuff really existed in the 80s.

i'm really excited for you to get to the book – its our first big collective-effort players guide in a long time, and at this point i think we did our first layouts/concepts for that thing EIGHT years ago

at some point in the past few years my name stopped appearing on EVERY package we sent out, so i'm glad my exposure has shrunk a bit, haha
