Trump administration slashes mercury regulations from coal plants - Scientific American

So much for making America Healthy. Do they want us all dead?

The EPA is going to stop monitoring greenhouse gases, which is all the proof you need about why we need regulations to reign in greedy corporations. I’m sure the oil companies are celebrating. But to hell with all of us lowly humans trying to live and breathe on our planet.

I keep reading about Trump attacking female reporters for asking the tough questions. #1 why aren’t the men asking the tough questions and challenging his answers and #2 why aren’t the men speaking up to support the women. Good grief

If the ventilation system is all connected, movement won’t matter. The virus will travel on air currents and is highly contagious

Trump’s threatening to sue over a joke. Doesn’t have more important things to worry about. So thin skinned.

And Melania’s film director is a sexual predator. Of course he is.

I’m seeing lots of people encourage us to watch Michelle Obama’s Becoming this weekend and I had honestly forgotten that she made that documentary. It’s hilarious how Melania copies everything Michelle does.

A vintage black-and-white portrait of pioneering American microbiologist Alice Catherine Evans (1881–1975), seated elegantly in a dark satin blouse with a strand of pearls around her neck. She gazes directly at the camera with a composed, intelligent expression, one hand resting lightly on a table edge, wearing a pleated skirt in this classic early 20th-century studio photograph. Evans made groundbreaking contributions to public health by proving that the bacterium Brucella abortus (which causes brucellosis, also known as undulant fever) could be transmitted from infected cattle to humans through unpasteurized milk, leading to widespread milk pasteurization laws in the 1930s that saved countless lives. She was also the first woman elected president of the Society of American Bacteriologists (now ASM).#WomenInScience #Microbiology #AliceCatherineEvans #PublicHealth #Pasteurization #WomenInSTEM

Sepia-toned vintage portrait photograph of Edith Clarke (1883–1959), the pioneering American electrical engineer, inventor of the Clarke Calculator (a graphical tool for solving power transmission problems), and the first woman to earn a master's degree in electrical engineering from MIT. She is shown in a close-up head-and-shoulders view against a dark, neutral background, gazing directly at the camera with a composed, intelligent expression. Clarke has distinctive curly hair neatly styled, and she wears thin, round pince-nez glasses perched on her nose with a thin bridge and side arms. She is dressed in a formal dark blouse or jacket. The classic early-to-mid-20th-century studio portrait style conveys her trailblazing role in electrical engineering and power systems innovation. #EdithClarke #WomenInEngineering #ElectricalEngineering #ClarkeCalculator #InventorsHallOfFame #MIT #MITAlum #PowerSystems

The great crime decline is happening all across the country - The Atlantic
Fascinating read. Imagine that investing in communities, housing, jobs etc reduces crime. Who wants to bet we’ll see that trend reversed in this administration?

The more I read about the conservative response to Pretti’s murder the angrier I get. Their excuses are so ridiculous. The pro open carry crowd now says he was killed because he open carried.
