I haven’t read it in a long time but David Reynolds wrote that article back in the 90s that called the FoF the β€˜Fulcrum of the Twentieth Century’, linking the global wartime and postwar impacts with some counterfactual discussion. Although I do remember thinking the argument was too Euro-centric

Every time I have glanced at the Lions vs Reds live tracker so far for an update, there has either been another try or a review for a potential try…

To be fair, 2 of my 3 did come to prominence before 1985, while Fugazi formed in 1986 (although admittedly are less famous).

I love a bassy intro, so Going Underground is a good shout for me. My β€˜bassy big 3’ would probably be:
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
The Jam - Going Underground
Fugazi - Waiting Room

INTERVIEWS WITH HISTORIANS - E. P. THOMPSON
YouTube video by Institute of Historical Research INTERVIEWS WITH HISTORIANS - E. P. THOMPSON

OMG, the @ihr.bsky.social has uploaded a bunch of old interviews with historians on their youtube channel and I'm now deeply invested. Summer treat for #SkyStorians!

Look at this interview with E.P. Thompson by an embryonic Penelope Corfield!

I hate this not just for the time cost but also for the double frustration of β€˜how did I not know about this article’ followed by β€˜oh, that’s why’.
