While Congress has set aside contingency funds for SNAP, and court decisions affirm that those funds are available now, the Trump Administration is appealing the ruling requiring it to pay full benefits.

Local charities are seeing support from groups hoping to cushion the impact of the Trump admin's handling of SNAP benefits during the gov't shutdown. Vice-Chair Lois Gemignani (see pic) of the Houghton County Democratic Party gives a $750 donation from the HCDP to St. Vincent de Paul for food aid.
