Entertaining episode. Jeremy Renner was still honing his acting skills, but he's a standout.

I like the story, but the plot is muddied by the fact that Penn just happens to show up in LA by chance? Didn't buy it. He would have sought Angel out.

Pretty good episode. A new demon arrives as a fake-out Doyle replacement. Instead we get... Wesley. 🙄

I was really rooting for him, thinking he actually might have, you know, trained to be half-decent at demon hunting. Nope. Just as frail.

As for the episode, it doesn't work nearly as well as it thinks it does. All demons on earth, according to Anya in the "Graduation Day" episode of BTVS S3, are human hybrids. How then can the "pure blood" demons use a device that will obliterate anything with human blood? Huge, gaping flaw.

I forgot how good this show can be sometimes. And damn, can Elizabeth Röhm act. The curse-influenced Kate speaking at her father's retirement party is just gut-wrenching. And later Kate and Angel in the police station is friggin' hilarious.

Despite the very noticeably bad special effect of a beheading late in the episode, this one is fairly creepy. The MOTW can detach his various body parts and reattach them later. One shot of a floating eye re-socketing himself is well done.
