School librarians are licensed teachers, often with advanced degrees, who teach students how to access, process, and share information from many and varied sources. Bookshelves canβt do that, Stewart.
The library without a librarian is neither curated nor fully resourced. It is just a room.

A colleague asked what I thought about middle schoolers last week.
"I love middle schoolers as a group. They're becoming aware of the problems with the world they're inheriting. They want to know the real deal, not the little kid version, and then they want to do something about it."
