I am an illustrator and I also make pictures with my own hands for animation and games sometimes.

But if a Mexican takes issue with the name and wants to do some reclaiming, I guess I'll take them more seriously than USAmericans feeling insulted.

To me as a portuguese, it's a simple translation and abbreviation of "estadounidense" which we commonly use. And personally, I'll use it for typing convenience, without vitriol. It doesn't feel ambiguous to me because US implies an anglo reading of the name and is used everywhere for that country.

Yes, if you insert "people" into the designation, it feels much more like "common folk", and therefore more free from negative connotations, but why should they deserve that in every case when no other place gets that treatment? (rhetorical question)

Honestly I don't think it's derogatory, it's doens't carry any insult and I will keep using it casually. But it doesn't help that whenever I need to single out that country verbally, it's for a bad reason.

Honestly, I'll write USians in english because it's short and specific. It's not my fault they stand to lose accurate language in most contexts.

This thread is hilarious. Is USian an insult? It's not, but incidentally it is because just being specific about the factually asshole nation sounds bad.

I keep thinking about how the propaganda leading to this war was all about how you needed to rescue women and the first thing they did was kill dozens of little girls.

I loved those and the beach down from the start area. It's incredible how some places feel different when you go into them from another angle and new weather. I feel this a lot in caelid, where things feel generally too chaotic but sometimes you catch the right vista and it looks extremely metal.
