There is a 'Reading for Pleasure Crisis' in the UK amongst 8-18 with rates at their lowest since records began... but not amongst comics readers! Nearly twice as many young comics readers said they enjoyed reading compared with non-comics readers (58.6% vs.33.1%). *National Literacy Trust Research

Comics are big business. 2025 was the biggest year for comics since accurate records began (£78.7m across adult and kids' via BookScan). Waterstones reported tripling of sales and store mix for Manga & Adult GNs combined from 2019 to 2024.

No but seriously it’s got a left and a right output and only plugging into one did ZILCH so do I need to get a splitter to make it work with new speakers?
I actually don’t think I’ve had to buy a separate/wired speaker in my life thanks to Bluetooth and built-in-speaker cd players - any thoughts?

Future Phoebe solved the “where to put it” problem but has now run into “what speakers do I need to make it make noise” problem 🥲

I ran the numbers of what the whole cart would be and, tbh, what a joy and privilege in my life that I could consider this indulgence but also I DO need to be having a THINK

(But they are some very cool pieces I would defo get use out of them…)

(It’s expensive because I want to pay people for their craft and understand the work that goes into making tattoos and clothes 🥲 fuck fast fashion and not valuing artists)

I’ve also been considering getting a significantly sized stomach tattoo and I just want to be able to wear cool things and curate a distinct image so I am more of a concept than a person and then disappear into the sunset why is that so expensive??

But really, if I return the £35 dress that didn’t fit right, then the £80 replacement wedding outfit really only costs £50, right?
(Don’t look at all the other things in the cart, the $$$ price makes it look worse than it is)

I am very familiar with my local library, as I happen to owe them money also (and unlike the cool libraries, which let you put coins in a machine anonymously, they make you talk to real people to pay it back 🥲)

the older I get, the more i understand it when my parents used to say I read books at a rate they couldn't afford 🥲

the aftermath of this, from a work-brain perspective, is that I walked away from my instant coffee for 5 minutes because I - completely sincerely - was waiting for it to 'brew' 🫠
