Det här är förstås ännu viktigare nu när så mycket politik och kultur är nedströms från det vi kallade ”data tjafs” när jag växte upp. Den som kan något om datorer har också möjlighet att sätta emot på arbetsplatsen när den digitala arbetsmiljön förslummas, chefen vill övervaka en, osv.

Föreställ er hur världen sett ur om folkrörelserna överlappar med fri programvarurörelsen och allmän kunskap om datorer och egenmakt och demokrati i datoranvändandet setts som lika viktigt som andra rättvise- och bildningsfrågor.

Jag tror att det här är det bästa sättet att dels folkbilda om värdet av fri mjukvara, dels att få feedback från människor som inte är datanördar.

Idé till aktivitet: skramla ihop sin lokala Linuxanvändargrupp med anhang och organisera en workshop på sitt lokala bibliotek där man hjälps åt att felsöka, dokumentera och om möjligt lösa problem folk som kommer dit har.

Also, font rendering is fine? It's never been fine before, but it is now. How is this possible? And, more importantly, why wasn't it possible before!?!?!!

I....just had my Linux machine autodetect our network printer (AirPrint) and just transparently use it. With no isse. In fact, with less issue than Windows had.

Is this.....actually the year of Linux on the desktop?
