I was listening to an β€œexpert” on LBC this morning talking nonsense about electric vehicles. He wants to open up the oil and gas fields in the North Sea without any appreciation that any gas or oil that comes out is owned by foreign companies and will be sold to us at standard prices.

I’m with Octopus and they have an app which shows a map with all the charge points on it. You can plan your route and plan a charge and they have negotiated an 8% price reduction. If you lease a car from them, they’ll even put a home charger in for free!

Here’s a screen shot of our popular supermarkets showing those with chargers. Not all have them but they’re all committed to putting them in so they’ll grow. You’ll not see a petrol pump at Lidl but you can often charge and shop at the same time

Just like petrol car drivers, hardly anyone charges from O-100% so the time spent charging is not very much. I have a home charger and my car will do 250 miles on a charge so i’ve never even charged away from home. I bet you will see them now we’ve mentioned them. They’re literally everywhere!

Well they do exactly that already in China. Thing is, EVs and the infrastructure here in the UK are rapidly and silently improving. It sounds like a bold claim, but as of March 2026, Public EV charging points now outnumber individual petrol pumps in the UK by nearly two-to-one!

If you are considering a new EV, be aware that due to the escalating war, anything coming from China by boat, and that includes Teslas will probably have to go the long way round. This will possibly effect the price and will definitely effect the delivery time.

Can’t argue about the mining but hopefully a better solution will be found. I can argue about hydrogen though. Latest research and conclusions suggest it’s not viable as a domestic fuel or for cars. Maybe suitable for heavy industry or perhaps lorries.

Yes but only 3p per mile and that only after 2028. Tax is rising from Β£10 per year to Β£200 but there’s still a significant saving over petrol if you have a home charger and a cheap overnight rate. I’m not sure if it’s worth the change if you have to charge away from home.

Wind is the backbone of our green energy, providing up to 37% of our total electricity on its own. On a windy day in the South East, it’s highly likely that my EV is being charged almost entirely by offshore turbines in the North Sea. I expect prices will rise though as gas is effected by the war.

Petrol is already going up at the pumps and some analysts reckon it might reach Β£1.50 per litre by the summer. The government actually extended the 5p fuel duty cut until August 2026 but after that there will be a staggered reduction of the 5p. It going to come as a shock. Good time to think EV?

The headline was, β€œPhotos show dignified transfer for 6 US soldiers killed in the war in the Middle East”.
Dignified! Trump showed up wearing a baseball cap. He might just as well have worn his jacket with the Mr Clutch logo emblazoned on the back!

I looked up the Board of Peace website.

No news since 22 January.

Trump says (on the site) that it has the chance to be one of the most consequential bodies ever created.

I’d love someone to ask him why it hasn’t featured in his Iran strategy.

Cyprus isn’t a NATO country but the UK is and our bases there are considered to be legally BritishTerritory. So if Iran attacked our bases, theoretically that would be an attack on us.

How?

Trump actually said this. He really did.

β€œSpain actually said that we can’t use their base... We could use their base if we want. We could just fly in and use it. Nobody’s going to tell us not to use it, but we don’t have to."

Source- BBC last night. Of course the cost to the US includes the three F-15 jets that were shot down, approx $90 million but someone has to pay for them.

The US is burning $1,000,000,000 every single day on the war in Iran.
In just a few days, the US and Israel have dropped more bombs and fired more missiles than Ukraine has used in 4 years against Putin.
What’s going on?

Disappointing that Dirty Business hasn’t yet had the same amount of traction that the Post Office Scandal. It certainly deserves to.

UK announces first repatriation flight out of Middle East The chartered flight is currently scheduled to leave Muscat International Airport in Oman on Wednesday evening.

Good to see all UK residents who pay tax being brought home safely…
As for the tax exiles (Farage’s Nomad Capitalists), can we charge them or drop them at the first safe country as a refugee?

I was thinking that myself. Just hope he stands firm. We don’t want anything to do with bombing innocent school kids.

Trump launched Operation Midnight Hammer in June 2025 because he says β€œhe can’t allow Iran to have nuclear weapons”. He claimed total destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities. And yet, this latest attack is because he says β€œHe cant allow Iran to have nuclear weapons”.
Smells like bull shit to me!

I don’t have that kind of insight or instinct. I just try to consider the facts and take them from reliable sources. You never see a poor bookmaker!
