Historic US-Norway military first: During the Jotun Strike exercise, Norwegian forces took control of live US bombs mid-air, guiding them to targets via a network. This marks a new level of allied integration and digital warfare capability.

Norway has extended its agreement with EU for evacuation of Ukrainian patients to 31 March 2026. So far, more than 3,300 patients and relatives have been transported to Norway and other European countries through the #EUCivilProtection Mechanism. Our support continues. @eu_echo #StandWithUkraine

Today marks 80 years since Norway was liberated – after five years of brutal occupation. Since then, we have enjoyed a free and democratic Norway, and perhaps we have taken it somewhat for granted. Today, on Liberation and Veterans Day, we appreciate those who fought for our freedom. Thank you.

Formidable Shield 2025 🚀
One of NATO’s key deterrence exercises this year—and Europe’s largest live-fire missile and air defence drill—is underway in Norway. 2,500 troops from 10 allied nations are training together on Andøya to defend Norwegian airspace. The exercise moves to the Hebrides next week

This week, 11 military flag officers meet in Kirkenes, near the border to Russia for the Arctic Security Forces Roundtable to discuss grey-zone threats. With rising geopolitical tensions, NATO’s Arctic presence is key to stability. The forum fosters cooperation for a secure and rules-based Arctic.

This morning, two Norwegian F-35s took off from Evenes to identify and shadow two Russian Tu-142 BEAR F in international airspace. The patrol aircraft were operating off the coast of Troms, where exercise #JointViking25 takes place. Such flights are considered routine. #WeAreNATO

Kongeleg treff i felt Det vart eit spesielt møte for H.K.H. Kronprinsen under øvinga Joint Viking 2025 måndag. Blant soldatane han fekk møte, var hans eigen dotter, Prinsesse Ingrid Alexandra.

🇺🇦✈️🇳🇴 The medevac plane came back after another medical evacuation of Ukrainian patients yesterday. This helps those affected by Russia's attacks and eases pressure on Ukrainian healthcare. Military support for Ukraine is a priority and the NOR defence sector work every day to support Ukraine.
