Our new study: Species Richness Gradients Vary Across Phylogenetic Scales led by Antonin Machac and David Storch now published in GEB.

We show that species richness gradients in young clades differ, whereas older clades converge on similar gradients.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined our first QESIG meeting yesterday! 💫

Such a warm and friendly start to this new community. 🔗

Special thanks to @ondrejmottl.bsky.social for the idea and to Bryan Novio for co-organizing. 👥

Can’t wait for the next meetup! 🌱✨

I learned a lot from the sessions on version control, reproducibility, functional programming & project management—fundamental skills for any researcher. I also really enjoyed the evolutionary part, which was especially relevant to my thesis. #SSoQE

¿Y si te dijera que hay un mundo "invisible" bajos tus pies, lleno de animales que nadie ve pero que lo sostienen todo?🔍
Mi tesis va de ellos: la meiofauna. 🪱🦂

¡Te lo cuento en este hilo!🧵

An ant biting my insect specimen?! 🐜 ⚠️

We recently reported an unusual sighting: a fire ant biting a giant hawkmoth that was collected 38 years ago! 🤯

Here's a thread on this hidden ecological relationship and where to find it in NHCs! 🏛️

Infographic made to spread the word about these ant antagonistic interactions.

It says: Call for data! Hunting for hidden ant(agonistic) interactions. Have you seen an ant biting other animal? They can be anywhere? Collaboration is needed to gather sufficient data! Data describing this species interactions is hard to get! Posible sources are: (1) specimens held at Natural History Museums, (2) Photographs of live interactions and (3) Unknow bibliographic reports.

However, many of these cases remain undescribed and are still hidden away in cabinets, drawers and literature. Unknown field observations 📷, papers 📄, books 📖, museum specimens... Everything helps!

Spread the word of these ant(agonistic) interactions! 🐜💥
