High water at Sqwa:la. #climatechange

Almost 24 hours later and it's clear the water's receding. It needs to go soon because another AR storm is coming.

It really is a tractor driving down through Sumas. I hope it's just to check on things.

floodwaters in Sumas Wa. A tractor is driving north down the main street through water that could be about 60 cm (~2 ft) deep. The water is flowing to the north, but not quickly enough to make bubbles. There does not seem to be much debris floating in the water.

At 3:00 pm, a tractor is visiting Sumas. The water levels might be starting to drop. The propane tank is gone. The water level seems to be either dropping (yay!) or staying the same.

By 12:32 pm, the tank is either under water or it floated away. The water levels are similar to the an hour ago. Some debris, like CWD, is visible and floating in the water.

@11:22, the propane tank is harder to see and now there's some sort of debris caught on the fence. The water level is above the cross bar on the El Nopal sign.

Whatcom County gov't said most people evacuated before the water got there so it's likely that most people are safe.

Floodwaters in Sumas Washington. Brown turbid water is completely covering SR9 and parking lots. It's not as high as the bottom of ground floor windows on the buildings. Water is rising though.

The tank has moved a bit to the east, and it's orientation has shifted. I think it's not totally free floating, yet. I hope this is close to maximum.

By 10:25 am, the propane tank is moving to the west. The water has almost reached the lower cross bar on the El Nopal sign. The water surface is much rougher, suggesting it is flowing faster. All bad signs for everyone.

I'm watching the propane tank across the street from the El Nopal Restaurant. at 9:45 am, it was above the water. By 10:09 am, it is floating and starting to move in the floodwaters.

I really hope the people are safe and evacuated in time.
