In the wake of all the majors we’ve enjoyed lately - and with a Ryder Cup looming - it is difficult to muster much enthusiasm for the blatant money-grab (and historically insignificant) Fed-Ex thingy 🤷‍♂️

It remains a mystery why someone in authority at Sky thinks that Kris Boyd’s incomprehensible utterings are worthy of our attention 🤷‍♂️

Maja Stark not going well at Women’s Open. Based solely on my own past experience can I just say to any journalists looking for a post-round word….DON’T 😃

On the eve of the 49th AIG Women's Open this is a great golf story but an even more amazing life story. Jennifer Lucas, the winner of the first Women's British Open in 1976, and the tale of the twin sister she didn't know she had until she was in her mid 50's.

Have just watched one hour 26 minutes and 57 seconds of Happy Gilmore 2. No more. Unspeakably bad.

Based solely on this tournament, women can no take penalties 🤷‍♂️

Have watched last few minutes of the women’s footie final. Memo to BBC: this is not commentary, this is adolescent cheer-leading 🤷‍♂️

Am always amazed by how little attention the Senior Open gets. Might be my favourite event of the year. Fascinating to see how well these elder statesmen can still play. Proper multi-dimensional golf that puts to shame the crash bang wallop played by so many of the modern elite 🤷‍♂️

I see Jon Rahm thinks Sergio Garcia would make a great Ryder Cup captain. Sometimes you have to wonder about Jon Rahm 😃

Watching a bit of the Senior Open at Sunningdale. One of golf’s great places/courses.

A Sky presenter just told the viewers that this week is the second time the Open has visited Portrush. One can only sigh…..🙈

So much well-informed truth here from a man who grew up in Northern Ireland and so has a real understanding of often stark realities 👇

Memo to Sky: I don’t want to hear from Henni, Sarah or Josh while the most important golf event in the world is taking place. Thank you….

Sky driving me crazy right now. Forget all the fluffy items that add nothing to the programme. Let us watch the golf!!!!!

The Lowry ruling looks harsh. But not quite as bad as Burns being denied a drop from that puddle at Oakmont last month 🙄

Memo to Sky: not sure I need to hear from Henni or anyone else when there is golf being played. Just saying 🤷‍♂️

Not quite sure what to say about the penalty-taking by England and Sweden there 😳

Paul McGinley points out there is only a five-shot gap between the leader and the cut-line at the Open. No surprise when just about every player tries to play the game in pretty much the same way. “One-dimensional” comes to mind 🙄

Can’t imagine too many youngsters will be watching the almost immobile pace of play at the Open and thinking “that’s a game I’d like to try.” 🙄

No one English has won the Open since 1992. Harris could break that string this year 😃

Huggan: Is McIlroy the best European golfer of all time? Greetings from sunny Scotland. Which is my way of justifying – or at least explaining what follows – a shameless descent into what might be termed “parochialism”.
