Yeah I think I'd choose that, also a lot of services are disrupted in December - so I think this option sounds more resilient.

The direct flight feels less stressful to me, but having to depend on a train would make me anxious. Any way to travel down the day before, in case there's a problem with the train? I think I'd consider taking a coach instead.

Incarnis by Fanterland was the first (only) GMless game I've played. Has fun worldbuilding mechanics. You basically play as a pantheon of gods. Nice artwork too.
