Iโ€™m fortunate. I can actually afford to pay. It might mean some sacrifices like working one more year but not what it means to most of Albertans. And that is message. Donโ€™t let the UCP design health care for the 1%

Just to update you. I had a few good days but tonight my uterus wants to crawl out of my eyes. I am trying to decide if that is better than it deciding to tunnel out of my cervix

Re Harvard and Summers and Epstein. I can think of many institutions and their programs who should think morally of who they court for money or sponsorship. We are watching. Who are we? We who have been harmed. We who represent those who have been harmed. Yes, I am looking at you.

You know things are corrupt when you are wondering if spending $100k on political donations to the UCP gets you more bene spending $100k on a surgery

I am a new faculty mentor. After saying I post menopausal in a male dominated discipline and want to burn it all down, my advice was 1. say no often and ways 2. Have a tenure and promotion folder that documents everything (even failures) 3. Get to know your faculty association 4. AMA anytime

Alberta's bid to privatize lab services wasted more than $100M: auditor general | CBC News Alberta's auditor general has released a report detailing numerous failures in process and lack of due diligence by the province in its attempt to privatize community lab services.

โ€œI don't think this was really a business decision,โ€ she said. โ€œI think it was an ideological decision.โ€ Said Lorian Hardcastle

As elective surgeries are being cancelled across the country Alberta I canโ€™t help but think that this is a feature not a bug to ram through poorly thought out policy

And since itโ€™s pre existing, what private insurance company would cover me now without an affordable health act equivalent in Alberta which I am not hearing anything about

20.11.2025 15:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 9    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

Does my extended health insurance cover this? No. I have $800 health care spending account that I always use every year for other required medical expenses and that METC only gets me 14% non refundable tax credit

Tossing and turning last night on the Premiers plan for this private health care system for so called elective surgeries. Mine, if I were to opt into a private surgery, would run me $60-$90k, the final amount I wouldnโ€™t know until after the surgery due to complications

As Danielle Smith says Albertans wonโ€™t tolerate higher taxes to pay for better publicly provided and funded health care, noodle that

19.11.2025 23:54 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 14    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Since we in Alberta are hearing the phrase โ€œelective surgeryโ€ bandied about so freely today, it doesnโ€™t mean a nice to have surgery it means a surgery that can be scheduled. So say you have uterine cancer and you are not in the ER dying. Your surgery to remove your uterus is elective, scheduled
