Absolutely yeah. All you can do is delay and make things harder but never impossible and thankfully people in the Godot engine discord are fairly good at explaining this to people now.

I’m glad to have seen it slowly shift to this perspective over time instead of what it was 😅

I do think we shouldn’t shun people who want tips on obfuscation and encryption but it’s definitely one of those things (like making an mmo or something) that most people asking about it have the full wrong idea and are too early to be worrying about it for the most part

Ehh I mean I’ll give them something there. If you’re downloading and flipping other people’s games it’s a lot easier for you to get traction on account of being able to “release a game” every few months and people looking for it on other platforms gets you a start.

I think the main reason people are worried about this is they’re afraid of people taking the game and selling it on another platform for quick money which would be understandable if it were people who were making more than they were spending from gamedev

Actual feature of English grammar and its official name is noun verbification

Theoretically any noun can be turned into a verb.

“She’s gonna dolphin in the pool”
“John is really johnning right now”
“I’m going to start grassing my diet”

Etc :)

Am missing working on the game but I just can’t muster up the energy

I haven’t made much progress on my game over the past week. My dad passed away and all my motivation has been sapped by sleepless nights and funeral preparations.

Might miss a week or two of updates, but will continue when I’m more energetic again 🤞

Honest question: do you think roleplay centric games like those of the very early mmo boom will return at some point along that timeline and if so what do you think would have to happen to cause it?

English has a rare language feature called expletive infixation which means you can insert some swear words into the middle of another word to increase their intensity.

EG: congratu-fucking-lations
