I agree. I don't think they throw the flag if he pushes him down with his hands and rolls over. Also it was probably in the "head or neck area" if that matters

I think the Steen illegal man down field, Barkley illegal motion (or whatever it was) would have made this look very different. Penalties were the problem more than anything else.

Any chance someone in the NFL complains about this and we see a rule change this off-season?

It's probably safe to assume that Lurie is not ok with the offense looking this inept for stretches every year. Is there any reality where we see a major change even if the team keeps winning 75% of the games?

So you think the rule that will be used to ban the tush push will specifically say "multiple pushers" and or "airborne runners don't apply"?

So you agree the play would be illegal?

The proposal that almost passed only spoke of "pushing or pulling a runner" nothing about the number of pushers or pullers or if the runner is already airborne.

And when they ban the tush push this summer it will also make this QB sneak that is apparently different from the tush push illegal so I guess these plays have something in common.

So 1 player pushing the ball carrier in a spread formation is a QB sneak, but 2 or more players pushing the QB in a condensed formation is a tush push. If that makes sense in your mind, so be it. I'd be willing to bet when the play gets banned this summer it will ban all of the above.

Diving into the line isn't how I define the tush push, again if that's how you want to define it, so be it. I (and most people) define it as someone's job being to push the ball carrier from behind. Which is obviously how that play is designed.

You're referring to players reacting to a ball carrier being held up, which does happen all the time. I'm referring to play design. On the chalk board a player's 1 and only responsibility is to push the ball carrier from behind. That does not happen all the time in football.

I'm not sure anyone else classifies the tush push that way but if that's how you want to do it, fine. I think it's fair to define it as any play where there is at least one player whose job is to push the ball carrier from behind. Which I think is a more standard definition.
