Welcome to the world of hyperlocal news ... lots of work, lots of views, lots of issues making it sustainable.
People want access to good quality reporting, writing, critiques, and photojournalism. Paying for it? Now that's a tricky issue.

Flag waving, singing along, and a packed Royal Albert Hall, all for The Last Night of The Proms

Facebook is currently showing me loads of videos of an American in Britain culture shocks. I wonder if any of them have covered a Last Night of the #Proms, and if they did, what did they make of it?

One of my subtitling pet hates - I do actually want to know what people are singing. #accessibility #subtitles #singing #captioning #liveCaptions

Afghan Flavours: great value and tasty food - Cheeselogs Afghan Flavours is a relatively new restaurant celebrating the cuisine of this Greater Middle Eastern country.

Hungry? Afghan Flavours on Oxford Road serves huge portions of Middle Eastern–Asian fusion dishes — all at great prices.
We tried the biryani, falafel wrap & channa daal. Left full, satisfied & plenty of leftovers

I was - and still am - so disappointed with that cover. So unimaginative, so dull. Complete opposite of what 2012 was. Unfortunately it has become the template for every big sporting event since. Depressing

I have always been curious about this photoshoot as Hartnell looks very different in some pictures, and Troughton's hair is ... weird. It's definitely them, definitely the Three Doctors, they are all definitely alive, and none of them are in a garage.

@cameronyardejnr.bsky.social Just had a random thought for ever-ongoing who could host a Gen Game revival... Greg Scott. Perfect fit. Would get the interactions with contestants Just right and can mug to camera as well as Brucie.

A navy blue for me. I am still working on Bluetooth connectivity but FlooGoo will stream via Auracast and the Mic will connect via 3.5mm port. Watch this space.

Personally, sound quality on calls has been perfect, so I feel very fortunate that settings have been pretty much spot on out of the gate

A week on, how is it going?
Yesterday was my first trip into a town centre wearing them and I had more confidence with the conversations at the tills. Quite a difference. The MultiMic+ is also terrific if in the sweet spot. Am very impressed

Some of us joined via Dr Who Weekly. Their UFO reports freaked me out.

How Bettear is using Auracast to transform public audio access – and take notes for you - Aurahear When Bettear began working on Auracast solutions, the team weren’t just interested in the tech. They saw a chance to reimagine how people experience public

Here's a new use for #Auracast #Bluetooth - not only can it enhance a venue's audio, it can be hooked up to a laptop to offer direct text-to-speech transcriptions. And it can deliver secure audio in courtrooms.

I have the logo as a TIF in my archive (going back a bit!) – and the InDesign files if you want a template (set up as A4 in case people wanted to print). If you DM me your email I can send it to you.

The 1970s headline typeface was Franklin Gothic Heavy. For this mock-up I used a standard newspaper typeface which is similar to but not the same as its body copy.

Caslon Swash, but redrawn to change some of the embellishments.
Somewhere I've got a copy of the logo which I made for this mockup, will see if I can find it

The production offices of BBC shows were tasked with writing suggested billings. Which is why the ones for comedy shows like Not The Nine O'clock News and Victoria Wood were subversive.
IIRC, JNT or Eric Saward decided on the three question format.

Would be a great thing. They could call it something that is brand neutral but also marks back to the early days of broadcasting. Something like Kangaroo

The trouble with art is it can't be created by committee or a spreadsheet. Has to come from the heart.

A quick shout out to praise @virginmedianews.bsky.social - this morning, the gas board dug up our garden and accidentally cut our broadband cable. After gasman's fixes failed, we got in touch with Virgin at 4pm. Just after 6pm, an engineer calls and fixes the problem. Incredible customer service

I saw Shaun. Twelve times over!

What a baa-riliant addition to the town this summer.

Reading's Economy & Destination Agency (REDA) has done us proud with this free trail.

Will write some words on his arrival very soon for @cheeselogs.co.uk . #rdguk

But no prizes given and working from the Family Fortunes model of the time, the jackpot there was £1,000 and could only be rolled over to a maximum of 3k.
When Bob did the $64,000 Question they had to get special permission from IBA to go to £6,400.

I see Amazon Prime deals have started. Always check the price history before buying as deals are not always as good as they seem. CamelCamelCamel is a big help here.
Also, its an excuse to flog off old tech, again buyer beware! #amazonPrimeDay
