Finally did a can!

This beer just won 1st place in the Specialty IPA category at the Washington State Fair!

Here’s my latest label, ‘Deep Sea Dive’ (New England-style IPA). Alternate name, ‘Octopus’s Beer Garden.’

Tonight I’m splitting a kettle sour for two separate second fermentations. For one I’m adding mango, tamarind, paprika, cayenne and a pinch of salt. The second, skittles. In 2-3 weeks they will (hopefully) be delicious!

Sloppy pour for the weekend.

Thank you, Yakult. You are a beer saver.

Usually, this process takes between 12 and 24 hours. For me, with this batch, it took an entire week! I think something was wrong with the first culture I used, but then I used a great hack, which was using the tiny Yakult probiotic drinks. I dumped 8 of those in there and got right back on track.

Boiling up a kettle sour right now! Post-putting the kiddo in her crib. Prior to boil this wort (what you call the liquid before it becomes beer) sat on the counter warmer at 99 degrees, waiting for lactose cultures to develop.

World, meet ‘90s Floral Couch IPA! It is 9.5% ABV, so don’t drink & skeet. Named after the furniture we were sitting on at the time.

Just tasted the new home brew! It’s a dry-hopped hazy ipa. Tastes crisp, piney, hoppy, with a nice floral aroma.

Kate says I should name it “‘90s floral couch IPA.” (Possibly because that is what she was sitting on at the time.)
