A day to recognize the unique journeys and struggles of transgender folks in our communities. Trans folks, especially transwomen of color, are the group within the queer community that is most likely to face violence, suicidal ideation, discrimination, and homelessness. It is the responsibility of the queer community to protect and uplift our trans siblings and their voices in our fight for justice. Trans people have always and will always exist in every society on Earth. We will always do everything in our power to protect our trans community from violence, bigotry, and hatred.

Montana HB121: Know the facts.
MYTH: This law applies to all bathrooms.
FACT: This only applies to non-federal government-funded buildings such as jails, schools, some domestic violence shelters, courthouses, and some other public buildings. This does not apply to private businesses (restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc.)
MYTH: An individual transgender person can be sued for using the 'wrong' facility.
FACT: Only the public entities operating the building where the instance occurred can be sued.
MYTH: Any person can demand proof of a person's gender.
FACT: Demanding someone else'smedical history is a direct violation of the Montana Constitution.
MYTH: those in charge of a public building can take any steps they want if they suspect someone is transgender.
FACT: Entities operating public buildings may take β€œreasonable steps” to ensure facilities are only used by people of the same sex assigned at birth. This does not authorize violence or invasions of privacy.
The Montana ACLU has filed a lawsuit to stop this dangerous bill.

Post image Post image What exactly is the Imperial Sovereign Court of the State of Montana, and what does that long name mean?

Our Mission: To educate and advocate for the queer and allied community while promoting social tolerance through the production of drag performances. We work to eliminate the historical oppression of queer and gender non-conforming people through the expansion of the boundaries of sex, gender, and sexual orientation by creating a safe and welcoming environment through the production of events which explore multiple gender expressions in a fun and educstional atmosphere.

"Imperial Court" - Since our founding in 1995, we have been part of the International Imperial Court System. The IICS, founded in 1965 and now with more than 65 chapters across North America, is the 2nd largest LGBTQ+ organization in the world and works to build community relationships for equality and raise money for charitable causes. Under the IICS banner we are able to connect, network, support, and grow our community connections with queer folks across North America.

"Of the State of Montana"- Every dollar we distribute, whether it be via donation or scholarship, stays in the state of Montana. We award scholarships and cancer treatment grants to Montana residents, we select at least 3 charitable causes in Montana per year to make contributions to, and we produce events across Montana.

"Sovereign" - We are a Sovereign Court within the IICS, which means we have fully independent decision making power. We have full control of our Mission, our actions and words, where our funds are contributed, and how we operate.

If you're interested in getting involved by volunteering or performing, send us an email at bod@iscsm.org and we can get you connected with our people

Simple steps to using pronouns respectfully.

When meeting someone new, ask for their pronouns! It's easy to tie it in when asking a person's name or when introducing yourself. Don't make it a big deal.

Share your pronouns! You shouldn't expect people to know or assume your pronouns, so it is always good to include them when introducing yourself.

If you don't understand something, ask! If someone uses pronouns that are unfamiliar to you, ask how you should correctly use them!

Do not question why a person uses the pronouns they do! Gender, gender expression, pronouns, and how those are all intertwined is different for every single person. Respect that they know themself better than you ever could.

Continue using correct pronouns! If you only use a person's correct pronouns when they can hear you, you don't actually respect them or their identity. If you find yourself struggling when trying to use new pronouns, do some introspection on your connection to pronouns and do the work to change how you use and approach pronouns. "It's hard" is not an excuse to disprespect and disregard someone.

Drag is often combined with other performamces such as dance, wrestling, lip-syncing, or comedy. Drag is NOT...only hyper-femenine performance, it can also be masculine, non-binary, or even agender in presentation! There are many drag performers who will switch and combine various gender expressions for one or more performances. Drag performers are NOT...only cisgender gay me. Dressing in hyper-feminine clothes and styling. People of every gender identg and sexuality do drag!
