Funding will be awarded to innovative and impactful research projects designed to improve the lives of nonhuman primates in any setting (captive, semi-free ranging, and wild).

The ASP 2025 pre-conference workshop, hosted by the ASP Primate Care Committee, is on the topic of primate welfare assessment. This is an 8hour workshop to be held on September 16th 2025 from 1-5pm and September 17th from 8am-12pm at the conference venue, the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel.

Under this federal bill (H.R. 3199 / S. 1594), private ownership, sale, and transport of nonhuman primates would be banned—while still allowing sanctuaries, zoos, and research centers to care responsibly for them

How do you apply? Applicants must complete the online application for the Competition through their ASP membership portal.

We welcome all trainees - e.g., undergraduates, grad students, field assistants, and early-career technicians - who have not completed terminal degree requirements before the abstract submission deadline.

Who can apply? ASP Members whose work has been accepted for presentation at the annual meeting. Contestants must be the first author on the abstract and are required to present the poster/talk.

Apply for the 2025 ASP Trainee Presentation Competition! Winners receive a certificate, cash prize, and a one-year FREE membership to ASP with electronic access to AJP. Deadline: 11:59PM (EST) August 1, 2025.
