Taking a moment to reflect on how stupid and useless gender or sex markers on documents are at all, in any context. Birth certificate? not relevant. Drivers license, passport? same. medical documents? they have tried to make "people with uteruses" into a joke but it is the relevant information.

Reposting this thread that very quickly explains what's happening in Kansas and what you can do immediately to help.

They know that people do not support this. They needed to work through this fast so they could do as much damage as possible before most people could catch wise to them. They are cowards. They want nothing more than to hurt people and not face any repercussions for doing so.

It is now that I tell you that these bills were not and are not popular in Kansas. The majority of Kansans do not support this. The reason they worked through these bills so fast, the reason the letters are being sent immediately, the reason the vetoes happened so fast is cause it is a blitz tactic

This is SO exactly as advertised

I don't even buy that the legislature, despite having a supermajority that overrode the (democrat!) governor, represents the will of most of the population in this. They're simping for the donor class, yelling pick me to the musks and stephen millers sitting on hundreds of millions.

I don't love Kansas, it was a huge relief to leave at 20 when I moved to Arizona. But my dad still lives there and despite disagreeing with him often about politics he has been supportive of me since I transitioned, including writing his state reps about this bill. Now it's not safe to visit.

Since the legislature overrode the governor's veto and this is becoming law tomorrow, i can no longer safely enter the state of my birth, and trans Kansans still there have it even worse, with their primary or only identification and ability to drive revoked overnight. Absolutely shameful.

This is the other thing. If you talk to trans people, regret at not transitioning earlier is almost universal. Meanwhile, no one has been able to produce any evidence of kids being rushed into premature or inappropriate transitions beyond anecdata connected to right wing activism.
