DC council okays record-shattering $6.6B+ stadium subsidy for Commanders in exchange for local hiring promise The D.C. city council voted on Mayor Muriel Bowser'sΒ Washington Commanders stadium plan on Friday, and it went as expected, approving the revised agreement 9-3. Needing five votes to block a two-third...

For a team with no other tangible offers in place from other local governments, and a site that was a potential gold mine for DC but will now be in Commanders owner Josh Harris's control on a 90-year sweetheart lease, $6.6B is a pretty incredible get.

Council Budget Office analysis on RFK Stadium deal

The Council Budget Office's analysis of the RFK Stadium deal is out & it's even more expensive than first reported.

Total DC Taxpayer Subsidy: $4.4 billion‼️

We need a better deal. That’s a huge price to pay with not enough coming back to DC taxpayers. There's still time to get it right.

Trump should kill Commanders stadium deal, but not because of the team's name If Trump kills the deal over the team changing its name, he'd be doing the right thing but in perhaps the most corrupt possible way.

"True to form, Trump managed to pick perhaps the single most corrupt and least defensible reason for opposing a deal that, at its heart, involves giving at least $1 billion in taxpayer money to an NFL franchise that could easily afford it," writes Joe Lancaster.
