The Internet makes that easier, sure, but when the outside world has no third spaces for kids to hang out safely, is it any wonder they retreat?

I’m lucky that where we live is nice and safe, but I’m not surprised that kids who aren’t so lucky don’t want to leave the house. The internet makes that an easier proposition too.

My son hangs out a lot with friends, but the only “third space” he really has is the local KFC, so he spends most of his pocket money on crap food just so him and his mates can spend time together indoors.

A mate of mine has been doing a whole bunch of AI art based around processing old photos of local municipal buildings. It’s really cool and plays on the whole idea of memory and nostalgia. It’s about as far as you can get from the prompt-generated slop that most AI “artists” churn out
