the chicken was dry

if i wanted to bake the chicken i would have done that an hour ago instead of cleaning the stove because of COURSE someone else spilled some sort of fruit juice that is now dried onto the burner, and fuck it its just burnt on there now, it was never my damn problem to begin with

this entire meal has been botched from the moment that someone else put the chicken in the cart for me to cook. i did not plan for chicken (neither did they). we have no ingredients for a dish, nevermind a meal. so now im here trying to make something from whatever scraps we DO have

i didnt want it to be so loud, but bluesky did something to the audio/video to make it so much louder than it should ever have been. in my local copy its -18db but the one i downloaded from bsky is -1db. i dont know why bsky does this or what exactly it is they do so that i can adjust for the future

okay, so at ~0:13 i play a louder note and here's a weird thing:

in my original recording it's -21db, so i boosted it by +15db (to be -6db)

i screen recorded VLC's visualizer, but volume was 65% (so: -18db)

after editing/exporting: -18db

after uploading to bsky: -1db (what? HOW???)

more piano today. accidentally discovered first 3 notes while trying to read the sheet for another song, then worked on this instead for 15 minutes

i COULD edit it so that it flows more naturally and even out the audio, but thats not how i played it. i had big pauses while i remembered the notes!

i dont think you're "supposed to" play all 7 octaves with either hand but i did it anyways. probably only supposed to play 6 octaves, given that the other hand would have no octave to play

crossing from 3rd to 4th octave gives me trouble for some reason??

covid isolation is over so i can practice playing piano again! i tried practicing the final fantasy prelude but it turns out that i need to work on my fingering

i wonder how quickly covid takes hold? i was just outside 30 mins ago shoveling snow without a mask (its 5am) and may have just been exposed… there's now a tingle in my throat. before, coughing felt like it was a choking reaction to post-nasal drip, but now it does not feel like there is a cause…

*asterisk: i developed a cough a few days ago but i do not have a fever. maybe i am sick but asymptomatic, idk we dont have any test kits. (we were completely unprepared for this!!) but i think, given the way i feel and how infrequent my coughing is to everyone elses'… i dont think its the same sick

im not even sick, comma, asterisk*. but patient zero is on day 10 of symptoms and sounds like several days to go. p2 is on day 7. and then even when symptoms are gone it doesnt mean they arent still infectious, y'know? so im looking at what, 11 more days of this?

the respirator i bought—which arrived 2 days before the plague—doesnt even fit well. i have to adjust it several times before it seals, and then i just have to not touch it or move my face. but also it is small and digs into my nose and my nose will start dripping and soaking the filter…

i bought fresh ingredients so that i could make us a nice hearty stew for christmas or new years. those have probably gone bad now. already had to throw out the sandwich bread and rolls, completely unopened. going to have to do a pass on the fridge too, before trash day…

its day 10 of quarantine. i had plans, 2 weeks ago! i had just gotten a new piano on the 21st, i was going to learn to play again. i was going get the rest of my boxes unpacked and my room organized so that i could stream again—game streams, piano practice streams, art streams…
