Our second hand-processing event in the Wyck Historic House, Garden, and Farm Educational Shed is coming up next Friday!

Join us and Common Object Studio at the Museum for Art in Wood in Philadelphia for a special event! Learn about many industrial uses of fiber flax, scaling production in the Mid-Atlantic, and flax as the alternative to toxic building materials and textiles.

How did our 2025 harvest go?

Am antique spinning wheel with morning sun shining of it. It's an unusual design called an "Irish castle," with the drivewheel mounted on top of a tall, triangular frame.

...also, now that fall is arriving, spinning time is returning. This is my Irish (Landis Valley, PA) "castle wheel." It's spinning wool right now, but it's great for fine flax.

Happy autumn, everybody!

We at the PA Flax Project will team up with Approved Textiles to make a workshop for attendees to celebrate slow fashion, discuss the historical significance of art and design, and learn the role of linen as a sustainable and ethically-produced textile grown in the Philadelphia area and beyond.

You're invited to a special Design Philadelphia program hosted in collaboration with the Philadelphia Museum of Art!

Tickets will be $15 per person, but $10 for museum members.

The Pennsylvania Flax Project has a great founding story, if we say so ourselves. It may sound cliché, but it's 100% true!

We are so grateful to be a part of reestablishing this industry, and can't wait to see what the future holds for linen in North America.

When the industry was booming in our region, flax was still harvested by hand, and by the time the machinery became commonplace, the linen industry had migrated to the West coast of the United States.

One year ago today, we received our specialized flax harvesting equipment from Belgium! This season, we were able to use it to harvest some of our flax. This is particularly mind-blowing because we are pretty sure that no one in the Eastern United States has used this machinery before.

Our 2025 Square Yard Project is almost at its end! Look at these gorgeous plots!
