People are really struggling financially in the UK.

The way to capture the musical zeitgeist is to do something about 5 or 6 years out of date (not 15 or 20) but do it BRILLIANT LY. Then you easily capture fans of the original genre/bands, their younger siblings & the new generation.
Examples. Oasis. Belle & Sebastian. Marillion. Surely many more?

I think the Three EPs has become Beta Band's legacy. It was definitely the zeitgeist moment. Shame really as there are some cracking tunes on the LPs proper. The first one went down like a lead balloon (I don't mind it) but after that some killers.

Yeah I've not got too much of it but some of the ones I've heard (seen him solo a few times) have been really good

Lone Pigeon LP is great. That was Gordon from Beta Band, left after the first EP. He made an LP then he recorded a second one which was unreleased at the time. I had a CDr as I knew the producer. Think all this stuff has come out now

Their records are fantastic Ed. Especially the EPs and 2nd LP although I like the first. Nobody else did at the time. Went down badly. 3rd LP great too.

But they are a studio band. Not as in they can't do it live but as in that's where they were at home.

Nah Ed, saw them a few times in the 90s.
Don't get me wrong I absolutely love them. Everyone I knew was obsessed with them. Me too. Perfect.
