I’ve heard from so many how leasehold has impacted on them across our area. Whether it is being trapped in short leases with unaffordable buy-outs, eye-watering extension costs and mortgage lenders unwilling to lend.

☕️ Brunswick and Hazlerigg Drop In 🌸

Thank you to everyone who dropped in to share their thoughts with me at my Brunswick drop-in yesterday afternoon.

We discussed so many important issues, from housing to anti social behaviour, from graffiti to grassroots football.

We also had a brilliant full school assembly, where students asked the most insightful, (if robust!), questions. After their visit to Parliament, I expected nothing less 😁

Thank you to Backworth Park Primary School for an excellent visit last week.

I met students in Parliament when they were on a trip to London, and I was delighted for it to be their turn to show off their school with a wonderful student-led tour 🏫

It was lovely to be able to feedback some of the steps being taken by this government to address this pressing issue.

Thank you so much for welcoming me, and it was incredible to see such passionate and determined young people behind such an important cause 🌍

🐟 Catching up with Burnside Primary School ♻️

Last year the brilliant pupils in Year 4 contacted me concerned at the state of our rivers, seas and waterways 🌊⚠️

After raising their concerns in Parliament, today I caught up with them.

I pledged to help put money back in people’s pockets. From today, 150,000 of the lowest paid workers in the North East will benefit from Labour’s increase to the minimum wage ⬆️

This is just one of the steps this government is taking to tackle the cost of living crisis & ensure that we make work pay

Last month I met with a local m pharmacy to hear about the challenges & opportunities for pharmacies.

Speaking to residents, access to a local community pharmacy is so important.

The new contract will fund & expand these essential services & increase access to healthcare.

Today I again met with National Highways making the case for investment in Moor Farm & Seaton Burn roundabouts.

I’ll continue to engage with them & the Department for Transport about these critical pieces of local infrastructure for South East Northumberland and North West North Tyneside.

The agreement on a new GP contract is the first step to:
📞 end the 8am scramble
🩺 bring back family Drs
🔨 rebuild general practice
Residents tell me how much family doctors mean so I am delighted at the steps to make it happen & proud to work with GPs to secure our NHS💙

It was great to hear about their work and their ambitious plans for the college and the garden centre to create more opportunities for young people.

It was a pleasure to visit Azure College in Cramlington to hear about their work to give disabled or disadvantaged young people the opportunity to learn, work, and develop independent life skills. The work of the college is transformational in so many young people’s lives.

Leaseholders have waited too long for action. I’m pleased the Government is taking steps to put this right. I’ll be feeding in the experience of residents across the Cramlington and Killingworth constituency into Ministers to ensure further action addresses the experience here.

Really important discussions last night at my Leasehold drop-in in Cramlington with over 50 residents attending to share their experience - and thank you for those who came along.

Parliament is in recess next week and I am looking forward to a packed week of activity across the Cramlington and Killingworth constituency meeting residents, community groups, charities and being out across the patch.

📣 Today is the final day of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill Committee. I’m really excited for the next steps of this Bill, which will improve children and families lives across Cramlington and Killingworth.

Great to join Seaton Delaval Arts Centre for their monthly coffee morning. The Centre was recently awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of their work locally

I joined residents over some delicious cakes and coffee to hear about their work and chat all things Seaton Delaval

Touched on topics including delivering growth, infrastructure, skills and access to finance.

The North East is a fantastic place to live and work and I want to work with other regional leaders to make it the place to do business too.

Really interesting and engaging roundtable event with Progressive Britain at Sage UK with Kim McGuinness & Sir Alan Campbell MP discussing support for small businesses in the North East alongside businesses across the region & representatives from the FSB, Chamber of Commerce & CBI.

✈️ Newcastle Airport is vital to our regional economy, supporting jobs, businesses & global links. They back Heathrow’s third runway for better connectivity, investment & growth in the North East.

I’ll keep pushing for bold infrastructure developments that unlock real opportunities for our area 🛫

Despite information circulated locally, the Minister confirmed both roundabouts part of the Road Improvement Strategy Pipeline

I will continue to highlight the importance of the required improvements and to keep residents updated.
