It's true. They're just all visceral reactions all the time. Their ONLY truth filter is whether something is emotionally gratifying and fits their preferred narrative. If it makes them feel good about their side, it's true. If it makes them feel bad about their side, it's fake news.

Well, Nixon was held to account. Rod Blagojevich comes to mind (though later pardoned by Trump). It's not perfect and it's not 100%, but we are doing far less of it these days than even the recent past.

Bingo! When your nature is to divide and to fear and blame the "other," there is always an outgroup. Even if they got rid of every single person in this country who is not a white, heterosexual, cisgender Christian, they would single out people who are the "wrong" Christian denomination, and so on.

Which is not currently being done in the USA and is why we are hurtling toward no longer being a free society.
