I’ve been tracking the resurgence of terrorist groups including #Lakurawa & Mamuda in North-Central Nigeria. They’re now spreading into areas once beyond their reach. With 26+ killed in Borno yesterday, it’s clear we’re not out of the woods.

It’s high time the Nigerian government listened to Zulum, set aside #ECOWAS politics, and worked with Niger, Chad, and Cameroon to counter the threat. Otherwise, #BokoHaram could strongly resurge — and other terror threats are rising too in northwest & central part of Nigeria.

Residents of Guga, Kakumi, and Kandarawa in Bakori, Katsina State, are fleeing their communities due to relentless attacks by bandits. According to one local resident, the assailants have been killing people and raping women and girls with no intervention from the authorities.

As I have pointed out before, mainstream media provides little coverage, while many Twitter-based journalists act more as pro-government analysts than objective reporters.

The attack in Birnin Dede, Kebbi State, which claimed the lives of 13 civilians and left many others injured, is yet another indication that terrorism is silently escalating in northwest Nigeria.
