I read a lot of great books last year. And I tried to make sure I read as many Latine authors as not.

My top reads? Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, Victim by Andrew Boryga, Sons of El Rey by Alex Espinoza, and Anita de Monte Laughs Last by Xochitl Gonzalez. All highly recommended!

Sometimes I want to vent my frustrations in a post but then I think about how much I'd rather not be judged by strangers for feeling how I'm feeling and decide against it.

Started a new querying journey ten days ago. Got my first rejection and all I can think of is me, Marty McFly, looking at Doc, my manuscript, and asking, "are we back?" And after the rejection comes soaring in my manuscript looks at me and says, "We're back."

Whenever the “read this/don’t read that” discussion pops up, I like to remind people that the only thing they should read is whatever they like and the only books they should skip are those they don’t like. Read and let read.

She withdrew, eyes glued to the ash-speckled pink spot growing brighter on her flesh, startled in equal parts by the fact that she was not dreaming, and that she had just burnt her fucking hand.
