06.10.2025 13:09 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The Montreal Protocol (which regulates HFCs) is a clear example of when govts listened to scientists (despite opposition from industry at the time) and very good things happened as a result. Enter Trump, as usual, to fart in the elevator and tell us itβs perfume.
01.10.2025 07:06 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The 8 months since Trump took office have been full of short-sighted, mean-spirited, and corrupt orders and threats.
It's easy to miss the TACO moments, or that courts have been blocking him on a weekly basis.
There is a big gap between his whims and our reality. You can be part of that gap.
Really enjoyed carrying through midtown Manhattan with this giant banner and a crew of great folks, as part of a much bigger march for climate justice. #MakePollutersPay

No, no. I'm not saying that about Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk said that about George Floyd.
Just in case anyone's interested in what he thought was fair to say about someone who was killed on camera.
The new #MAHA report ducks the tough questions, eg the thousands of unregulated chemicals in plastic packaging, many of which are known to be harmful and leach into our food. Until politicians are willing to stand up to corporations, we will continue to get sick and die from preventable causes.

The forced military occupation of the District of Columbia violates our local autonomy and basic freedoms. It must end.
Strong turnout and powerful speeches (eg from Reps Ayana Pressley and Glenn Ivey and five city council members) at the Free DC press conference this morning. We visited over 200 congressional offices demanding an end to the occupation of our city - before they come for yours.

The National Guard are meant to be deployed to respond to real emergencies like natural disasters and public health crises.
Advancing President Trump's political agenda is not one of those emergencies β and the former vice chief of the National Guard Bureau agrees.

Takes one to know one, I guess.
But seriously, does Trump think DC wants or would ever allow him to βtake overβ our city, even if he wasnβt making up the rationale?
There are 234 petrochemical industry lobbyists in these plastics treaty negotiations. Polluters should not be allowed to write the rules. We've already had 70 years of self-regulation by the petrochem industry; we're here working on a treaty because that has had disastrous consequences for us all.

States that want a meaningful #PlasticsTreaty will have to use all the diplomatic tools at their disposal to bring the hold outs along. This isn't something that delegates in Geneva can solve on their own. It's time for presidents and prime ministers to step up and get to work. #BreakFreeFromPlastic
